The Cabinet Division has issued a fresh set of instructions for government officials and employees, making it mandatory to be present in their respective offices from 9:00 AM to 9:40 AM. Alongside this, an 11-point directive has been circulated aimed at ensuring energy saving in government offices and maintaining cleanliness within the premises. This move is part of a national call to conserve electricity and fuel amid the ongoing global energy situation.
Energy Saving Measures and Office Decorum
According to the circular issued on Sunday (March 2), officials must remain in their rooms during the specified morning hours and ensure that official programs do not disrupt this timeframe. To maximize energy saving in government offices, the directives emphasize using natural light by keeping windows and blinds open. The use of electrical appliances like lights, fans, and air conditioners must be restricted to only what is necessary, with AC temperatures maintained at 25°C or higher.
Monitoring and Compliance
The 11-point directive also instructs that all electrical equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners, must be switched off after office hours. Unnecessary lighting in corridors, stairs, and washrooms is strictly prohibited. Additionally, regular cleaning of office spaces and toilets is mandatory. To ensure strict compliance, every department and agency has been directed to form a ‘Vigilance Team’ to monitor these activities daily.
