“Give Us Time to Study”: SSC Examinees Protest Against Harsh Rules

On Wednesday (April 8, 2026), a group of students from the SSC batches of 2026 and 2027 organized a sit-in program at the Chaurangi Mor area in Panchagarh. The SSC Examinees Protest was sparked by the introduction of new, strict regulations for the upcoming public examinations. The protesting students argued that they had not received sufficient time to prepare for the exams due to the aftermath of the July Mass Uprising. Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the students emphasized that the current academic environment is not suitable for implementing such rigorous rules without providing adequate preparation time.

During the SSC Examinees Protest, students expressed their frustration, stating, “Since the July Uprising, we haven’t had the chance to study properly. Everything is just starting to normalize for us. We want the authorities to postpone the exams or ease the restrictions so that we can at least write something on our scripts.” The students warned that if the Ministry of Education fails to withdraw the “unnecessary” restrictions, they will demand the immediate resignation of the Education Minister. They believe the current policies are being forced upon them without considering the psychological and academic setbacks they faced during the national unrest.

Impact on Future Batches and Administrative Silence

The SSC Examinees Protest highlights a growing disconnect between the Ministry and the student body. The protesters claimed that the new rules are “unnecessary” and “overly strict,” creating undue pressure on the 2026 and 2027 candidates. While the local administration observed the sit-in, there has been no official response from the central government regarding the withdrawal of exam restrictions. The students vowed to continue their movement until their demands are met, asserting that a knowledge-based economy cannot be built by pressuring students under unfavorable conditions.
