Brutal Attack in Rangpur: Jubodal Leader Murder Linked to Drug Feud
The Jubodal Leader Murder occurred on Thursday afternoon (April 9, 2026) in Rangpur city, sparking intense tension in the locality. The victim, identified as Rakib Hasan, was a former member of the 24th Ward unit of the Metropolitan Jubodal and a proposed Co-Organizational Secretary for the upcoming committee. According to police and local witnesses, a notorious drug dealer named Momin and his associates attacked Rakib with sharp weapons at the Machhuapara intersection. The attackers reportedly arrived by rickshaw and slit Rakib’s throat before fleeing the scene. This cold-blooded Jubodal Leader Murder has sent shockwaves through the community.
Initial investigations into the Jubodal Leader Murder suggest that a long-standing dispute over the illegal drug trade was the primary motive. Local residents claimed that Rakib was previously associated with Momin in the narcotics trade, but their relationship soured over time. Rakib’s father, Abdus Samad, stated that his son had left home around 3:00 PM and was found dead by 4:30 PM. Witnesses further revealed that Momin had previously assaulted Rakib, even breaking his leg in an earlier confrontation. It is alleged that Rakib was targeted this time because he had become an obstacle to Momin’s drug empire in the area.
Police Response and Political Reaction

Meanwhile, Azizur Sheikh Biplob, President of the 24th Ward Jubodal, condemned the act and demanded exemplary punishment for those who used such “terrorist tactics” to kill a political activist.
