The Iranian government has requested comprehensive information from Bangladesh regarding its fuel and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrying vessels. This move aims to ensure the safe passage of these ships through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz amidst ongoing regional tensions. The Iranian Embassy in Dhaka recently sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking these updates for April shipments.
Energy Division Submits List of Six Vessels to Tehran
In response to Iran’s request, the Energy Division has provided a detailed list of six vessels to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These ships are scheduled to carry approximately 5 lakh tonnes of LNG and 79,000 tonnes of crude oil through the strait next month. This coordination is part of a diplomatic understanding where Iran has agreed not to obstruct “non-hostile” vessels from friendly nations like Bangladesh.
