The Iranian Embassy in Dhaka recently sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking these updates for April shipments.

    Energy Division Submits List of Six Vessels to Tehran

    In response to Iran’s request, the Energy Division has provided a detailed list of six vessels to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These ships are scheduled to carry approximately 5 lakh tonnes of LNG and 79,000 tonnes of crude oil through the strait next month. This coordination is part of a diplomatic understanding where Iran has agreed not to obstruct “non-hostile” vessels from friendly nations like Bangladesh.

    Ensuring National Energy Security Amid Global Conflict

    The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint, handling nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas supply. Due to the conflict involving the US and Israel, Iran has imposed strict maritime controls. Bangladesh’s proactive diplomatic outreach to Tehran reflects its commitment to maintaining a stable fuel supply. Iran has categorized Bangladesh among a small group of “friendly” countries, including China and Russia, granted special security passage.
