Saudi Arabia has introduced a new facility for highly skilled foreign workers seeking to bring eligible family members into the country. Under the new rules, the process for entry visas for eligible family members can begin before the worker’s employment visa process is fully completed. This could make bringing family to Saudi Arabia more convenient for eligible workers.
According to a report by Gulf News, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the decision on Tuesday (October 6). The initiative was introduced in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
Under the new arrangement, eligible highly skilled foreign workers can bring their spouse, sons under the age of 25 and unmarried daughters to Saudi Arabia. Entry visas for eligible family members may be issued while the foreign worker’s work visa is still being processed.
This means workers do not necessarily have to wait until their own work visa process is fully completed before starting the process of bringing family to Saudi Arabia. However, applicants must meet all applicable requirements and complete the necessary procedures for the family members’ visas.
The initiative aims to improve the quality of life for people living in Saudi Arabia and simplify visa-related procedures for highly skilled foreign workers. The new arrangement may allow eligible workers to make arrangements for living with their families sooner while completing their employment-related procedures.
According to the report, eligible family members under the new bringing family to Saudi Arabia arrangement include a spouse, sons under 25 and unmarried daughters. Applicants must still meet all relevant eligibility and application requirements.
After family members arrive in Saudi Arabia, the process of obtaining their residence permits can be completed in accordance with the country’s applicable laws and regulations, the Ministry of Interior said.
The change is particularly relevant for highly skilled foreign workers employed in Saudi Arabia. Anyone planning bringing family to Saudi Arabia should verify the latest requirements with the relevant Saudi authorities, as visa categories, eligibility conditions and documentation requirements may apply.
