বাংলাTwo people were killed and 10 others injured in separate road accidents in Palashbari and Sadullapur upazilas of Gaibandha on Thursday (September 3).
According to eyewitnesses, a head-on collision occurred between an Alhamra Paribahan passenger bus and a microbus of a pharmaceutical company in the Majhipara area on the Palashbari-Gaibandha road. The microbus was badly damaged in the collision, and its driver, Masud Rana, 45, died at the scene. Ten others were injured and taken to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex.
Palashbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sarwar Alam confirmed the road accident and said police went to the scene after receiving the report. The two damaged vehicles were later removed with the assistance of the fire service.
In another incident, Golam Rabbani, 50, was killed after being hit by a bus in front of Asma Memorial Academy in Westpara on the Sadullapur-Madarganj road at around 9am on Thursday. He worked as an accountant at Sadullapur Government College.
Police said Golam Rabbani was returning home by motorcycle after dropping his child at Ash-Shifa Madrasa in Westpara. A passenger bus hit his motorcycle, causing him to fall onto the road. He died at the scene.
Sadullapur Police Station Sub-Inspector Abu Taher said police recovered Golam Rabbani’s body from the scene. Further legal proceedings are underway.
The two separate road accidents in Gaibandha resulted in two deaths and 10 injuries, highlighting continued concerns over road safety in the area.
