বাংলাBGMEA has launched a new initiative to increase Chinese investment in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector by creating a data-driven platform linking local factory owners with potential Chinese investors.
The decision was made during a meeting in Dhaka between BGMEA leaders and a high-level delegation from the Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh (OCAIB).
Chinese representatives said many companies are interested in Chinese investment in Bangladesh’s garment industry but lack reliable information needed to make investment decisions. They sought BGMEA’s support in facilitating the process.
BGMEA said it will collect detailed information from interested factory owners, including factory condition, production capacity, machinery, available facilities, and opportunities for joint ventures or share transfers. The information will then be shared with potential investors to encourage Chinese investment.
Industry experts believe the initiative could help revive struggling factories, strengthen backward linkage industries, expand raw material production, and increase value-added manufacturing through greater Chinese investment.
