Malaysia’s national cricket team is arriving in Dhaka today for a full bilateral series against Bangladesh. Leading the side is experienced all-rounder Syed Aziz, who also has a special personal connection with Bangladesh.
Syed Aziz married Rounak Nowar from Chattogram after the couple met in Malaysia in 2023. Their wedding ceremony was held in Chattogram in February 2025 with family members from both countries in attendance.
Because of this marriage, Syed Aziz is affectionately known as Bangladesh’s son-in-law. His return to Bangladesh as captain of the Malaysian team has attracted additional interest from cricket fans.
Syed Aziz made his international debut for Malaysia’s Under-19 team in 2016 before becoming a key member of the senior national side. He is now one of the team’s leading T20 all-rounders and captain for the Bangladesh tour.
As the series begins, fans will be watching not only his performance on the field but also the unique personal story that connects Syed Aziz with Bangladesh.
