বাংলাNational Citizen Party (NCP) northern chief organizer Sarjis Alam has criticized a documentary on the July mass uprising. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Sarjis Alam’s statement claimed that several key events were omitted from the production.
According to Sarjis Alam, the documentary screened by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs at the China Friendship Conference Center did not include the one-point declaration announced on August 3 or mention the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Sarjis Alam’s statement has since drawn public attention.
He argued that viewers might conclude there was no July mass uprising and instead perceive it as a party-led movement. He also alleged that presenting history from a partisan perspective is unacceptable. Sarjis Alam’s statement emphasized the need for an accurate representation of historical events.
In the same Facebook post, he criticized the BNP, saying that expressing regret alone would not erase allegations of politicizing and controlling historical narratives.
Sarjis Alam’s statement has sparked fresh political discussion over the portrayal of the July uprising in the documentary.
