বাংলাThe Shaheed Abu Sayeed Memorial Community Library has been inaugurated in Jafarpাড়া of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur. Former adviser to the caretaker government and PPRC Executive Chairman Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman inaugurated the library on Sunday (August 30).
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman said young people should be encouraged to engage in knowledge-building activities to keep them away from drugs and other negative activities. He said libraries in rural areas can expand students’ access to books and support the development of knowledge, creativity and critical thinking. The Abu Sayeed Memorial Library can contribute to these goals.
He also said initiatives like the library are important for keeping the memory and sacrifice of Shaheed Abu Sayeed alive among the younger generation. A library can serve not only as a place for reading but also as a centre for knowledge, ideas and creativity within a community.
The event was chaired by Abu Sayeed’s father, Md Mokbul Hossain. Local dignitaries, teachers and students, representatives of social and cultural organizations, and people from different professions attended the program.
After the inauguration, Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman visited the Abu Sayeed Memorial Library and donated books. Students and local residents welcomed the initiative.
Local residents said the Abu Sayeed Memorial Library will give students in the rural area an opportunity to spend their free time reading. They also expect the library to promote knowledge, creativity and social awareness among young people.
