A former bank officer died after an electrocution in Shonir Akhra, Kadamtali, while checking an electricity meter during heavy rainfall on Sunday night.
According to family members, Md. Rezaul Karim, 62, was standing in accumulated rainwater beneath his house when he came into contact with electricity and lost consciousness.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The victim was a resident of Shonir Akhra and a retired private bank official.
Police at Dhaka Medical confirmed the electrocution in Shonir Akhra and said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue while the concerned police station has been informed.
The incident highlights the dangers of exposed electrical equipment during monsoon flooding, as the electrocution in Shonir Akhra claimed another life.
