বাংলাEducation Desk: There is currently no legal barrier to conducting viva voce examinations for head teacher recruitment in MPO-listed secondary schools across Bangladesh. Attorney General Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal said the viva examinations may begin from October 15 this year.
The Attorney General shared the information at a press briefing on October 6. Earlier, the Chamber Court stayed the High Court judgment that had cancelled the requirement of 18 years of work experience for applicants to head teacher posts. As a result, the next stage of the head teacher recruitment process can proceed.
At the same time, the court directed that 46 head teacher posts be reserved for the 46 teachers who filed the writ petitions. Therefore, the court’s direction regarding these teachers remains relevant to the head teacher recruitment process.
According to the case details, the government introduced a minimum requirement of 18 years of work experience for applicants to head teacher posts at MPO-listed educational institutions through an amendment on March 25, 2021. A total of 46 teachers subsequently challenged the validity of the requirement through separate writ petitions.
After hearing the petitions, the High Court declared the amendment concerning the 18-year experience requirement invalid. The state later appealed to the Chamber Court seeking a stay on the High Court judgment, and the Chamber Court stayed its operation.
Meanwhile, the NTRCA has published a schedule for the institution head recruitment viva.
