বাংলাNorway striker Alexander Sorloth has explained the crucial moment when he chose not to make a pass to Haaland during the World Cup quarter-final defeat against England.
Late in the first half, Sorloth received a through ball from Martin Odegaard and entered the penalty area. Although Erling Haaland was unmarked, he decided against making the pass to Haaland and instead attempted a shot that was blocked by John Stones.
Speaking after the match, Sorloth said his original intention was to make the pass to Haaland. However, he felt Stones had closed the passing lane, leaving him with no option but to shoot.
Norway coach Ståle Solbakken supported his striker, saying Sorloth had sprinted a long distance and was searching for the right passing moment before deciding to take the shot himself.
Despite Norway’s historic World Cup campaign, the missed pass to Haaland remains one of the tournament’s most talked-about moments.
