Erling Haaland failed to make his usual impact against England in the World Cup quarter-final, raising questions after being substituted during extra time. Reports suggest Haaland illness may have played a key role.
Norway coach Ståle Solbakken hinted at fitness concerns without revealing specific details. Former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino later claimed Haaland was suffering from illness during the match.
According to Cascarino, Haaland illness was similar to the viral infection that affected Declan Rice earlier in the tournament, leaving the Norwegian striker below his normal physical condition.
Although Haaland showed no visible injury, he was substituted in the 105th minute and watched the remainder of the match from the bench as Norway exited the tournament.
No official medical update has yet been released, but speculation over Haaland illness continues following Norway’s defeat to England.
