A devastating Gazipur fire destroyed 10 shops at Kapasia Market in the early hours of Sunday after flames broke out in a tin-shed shop.
Four units from Kapasia and Rajendrapur Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the Gazipur fire under control after nearly one hour of firefighting efforts.
According to Assistant Director Md. Mahfuzur Rahman of Kapasia Fire Service and Civil Defence, the Gazipur fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit. The blaze spread quickly because most shops in the market were built with tin sheds.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Fire officials said a timely response prevented a much larger disaster, while the total losses from the Gazipur fire are still being assessed.
