Weather Desk: A low-pressure area may form over the central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. Under its influence, rain and thundershowers are likely in different parts of Bangladesh over the next five days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The 120-hour forecast, issued from 9:00am Tuesday (October 6), said the monsoon axis extends through Gangetic West Bengal and southern Bangladesh to Assam. The southwest monsoon is currently less active over Bangladesh and weak over the North Bay. It may withdraw from Bangladesh within the next 72 hours.
On Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds may occur at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. Daytime temperatures may fall slightly across the country.
On Wednesday, some areas of Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, along with one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, may experience rain or thundershowers. Temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
Rainfall may become more widespread on Thursday. Many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions and some places in Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may receive rain or thundershowers. Moderately heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations.
On Friday, many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions and some places in Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds with rain or thundershowers. Moderately heavy rain is also possible in some areas.
On Saturday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds may occur at one or two places across all eight divisions. Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
