This move is part of the government’s 180-day, one-year, and five-year action plans to fulfill election promises. The Prime Minister shared this information during a parliamentary session on Wednesday.
The newly formed committee will also focus on making High-Tech Parks, Software Parks, and ICT centers more effective. Bringing PayPal to Bangladesh has been a long-standing demand from the country’s growing freelancer community. This initiative aims to simplify international payment receipts and boost the digital economy.
PayPal and ICT Infrastructure Development Plans
The Prime Minister highlighted that all ministries are working on specific timelines to implement the national manifesto. Effective management of ICT centers is a top priority for the current administration. The introduction of PayPal is expected to attract more foreign investment and empower tech entrepreneurs across the country.
In addition to ICT reforms, the government has announced significant support for students. The limit for collateral-free loans for language student visas has been increased from 3 lakh to 10 lakh BDT. This facility is now more accessible for students planning to study in Japan based on their ‘Certificate of Eligibility’.

The 13th National Parliament discussed several key initiatives to support the youth. The Prime Minister emphasized that these steps are crucial for building a ‘Smart Bangladesh’. Freelancers can look forward to a more streamlined financial system with the arrival of global payment gateways like PayPal.
The Education and ICT ministries are collaborating to ensure the successful execution of these plans. With increased loan limits and better tech infrastructure, the government aims to reduce unemployment and encourage skill migration. The PayPal committee will submit its initial progress report soon to the cabinet.
