বাংলাThe Ministry of Education has decided not to introduce admission tests for first-grade students from the upcoming academic year. Instead, First Grade Admission will continue through the existing lottery system.
According to ministry sources, the earlier announcement of admission tests created concern among parents, leading many to seek coaching classes and private tutors. To reduce this pressure, the government has retained the First Grade Admission lottery system.
A senior ministry official confirmed on Monday that First Grade Admission tests will not be held. The lottery-based admission process will remain in place as before.
The lottery system was introduced in 2011 to reduce coaching dependency and improve transparency in school admissions. Although a new admission process had been proposed from 2027, the ministry has now decided to continue First Grade Admission through a lottery.
According to the 2024 Primary School Statistics, around 3.546 million students enrolled in first grade nationwide, making the First Grade Admission policy a significant issue for parents and schools.
