Police have arrested two people in connection with a shooting targeting the home of Demra BNP convener SM Reza Chowdhury Selim in Dhaka. One of those arrested is Demra Thana Chhatra Dal convener Md Masud Rana, also known as “Kaylla Masud.”
According to police, the investigation into the BNP leader house shooting first led to the arrest of a man named Tapas. Based on information provided by him, police later conducted an operation in Rupganj and arrested Masud Rana.
Police said they recovered two pistols, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition, a single-barrel shotgun and eight shotgun cartridges during the operations. Investigators are examining whether the recovered weapons are linked to the BNP leader house shooting.
The shooting took place in the early hours of August 28, when several people allegedly arrived on motorcycles and opened fire outside the BNP leader’s residence. A window on the second floor was damaged during the incident.
Police recovered spent bullet casings and a shotgun cartridge from the scene. Authorities said the investigation into the BNP leader house shooting is continuing and efforts are underway to identify others involved.
Police have also made allegations regarding criminal activities involving the arrested individuals. Those claims, along with the BNP leader house shooting case, remain under investigation.
