EnglishThe government has conducted ৫০০ anti-adulteration mobile court operations and drives in ১৮০ days as part of efforts to ensure food safety. A total of Tk ২৪,০৪৫,১০০ in fines was imposed during these operations.
Food Minister Afroza Khanom Rita disclosed the information on বৃহস্পতিবার (সেপ্টেম্বর ৩) while responding to a question from parliament member Mohammad Rashedul Islam Rashed during the question-and-answer session of the National Parliament.
The session was chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The food minister said the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority is regularly monitoring food establishments, wholesale markets, and wholesale and retail food businesses using a risk-based approach.
She said food businesses are also being encouraged to follow safety requirements through training, counselling, meetings, seminars and workshops.
According to the minister, a total of ৭,৭৬৬ food establishments were monitored during the ১৮০-day period from the time the current government took office until আগস্ট ১৭, ২০২৬. During this period, ৫০০ mobile court operations and anti-adulteration drives were conducted under the Safe Food Act and other relevant laws.
The operations resulted in fines totaling Tk ২৪,০৪৫,১০০. The authorities are continuing monitoring activities at food establishments, markets and food businesses to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Alongside anti-adulteration drives, the authorities are focusing on awareness among food businesses. Training, counselling and various awareness programs are being used to encourage businesses to maintain food safety standards.
The government says regular monitoring and enforcement activities will continue as part of its efforts to ensure safe food for consumers. The latest anti-adulteration drives are part of these ongoing food safety measures.
