US President Donald Trump has claimed that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, marking a major development in the ongoing Israel-Lebanon ceasefire discussions.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he held conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after which both sides agreed to a temporary 10-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire starting at 5 PM EST.
According to Trump, the agreement aims to reduce tensions and open a pathway toward long-term peace between the two countries.
He also highlighted that high-level diplomatic engagement, including meetings involving US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, played a role in restarting dialogue after decades of limited direct communication.
However, no reference was made to Hezbollah, despite its central role in the ongoing conflict dynamics in the region, raising questions about the scope of the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire.
Earlier, Trump had suggested that the United States was actively working to reduce tensions and facilitate dialogue between the two sides after more than three decades of strained relations.
