বাংলাThe Bangladesh government is set to import 16 more LNG cargoes over April and May to maintain stable gas supply. Officials say LNG import remains steady with no immediate shortage concerns.
According to Petrobangla, 9 cargoes are scheduled for April, with 4 already delivered. The remaining shipments are expected to arrive gradually.
Engineer Md. Rafiqul Islam stated that 11 cargoes are planned for May, with 7 already secured and procurement ongoing for the rest. This reflects continued reliance on LNG import.
The LNG shipments are being sourced from Australia, the United States, and Angola through both spot market purchases and long-term agreements.
Experts warn that increasing dependence on LNG import due to declining domestic gas production could raise energy costs and impact the broader economy.
