বাংলাThe body of Ishayeq Shahriar Aprotim, 13, son of Comilla University Associate Professor Nahida Begum, was recovered from an isolated area of Lalmai Hill in the Sananda area on Saturday (September 19). He had been missing since Friday.
Aprotim was found at Lalmai Hill by local resident Mohammad Abdul Kader Jilani, who was cutting bamboo with several others at around 11am. They noticed the child lying in an isolated area near the university and informed others before police arrived and recovered the body.
Jilani said one of his relatives first noticed that a child was lying there. After seeing the child, they became frightened and returned without continuing their work. Later, after informing a local man, they learned that the son of a university teacher had been missing since the previous day. They then returned to the location and identified Aprotim.
Aprotim went missing on Friday after leaving his home in Kotbari, under Ward 24 of Comilla Sadar South, with his mother’s iPhone. His family said he had gone out to take photographs with friends. He did not return home, and a general diary was subsequently filed with the police.
Aprotim was a seventh-grade student at Border Guard Public School in the Kotbari area. Police and local sources said there were signs of injury to his head. His mother’s iPhone has also not yet been recovered.
Police and university teachers initially suspected that Aprotim may have been killed over the phone. However, the exact motive remains subject to investigation.
The investigation into Aprotim’s death is underway. Comilla Sadar South police said the body was sent to the mortuary of Comilla Medical College Hospital and several police teams were working to identify those involved.
According to the latest reports, police have detained Tuhin and later detained two more people, Anas and Fahim, in connection with the incident. They are being questioned.
