  • The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalized its nominations for the reserved women seats in parliament, selecting 36 candidates after a two-day interview process.

Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi confirmed the development on April 20, stating that the party’s national committee conducted thorough evaluations before finalizing the reserved women seats nominees.

The selected candidates include prominent political figures such as Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akter Ranu, and others. According to party insiders, experience, loyalty, and organizational contribution were key criteria in determining the reserved women seats nominations.

Sources within BNP revealed that out of 1,025 nomination forms sold, around 900 candidates submitted applications. After rigorous scrutiny, 36 candidates were chosen for the reserved women seats.

Party leaders believe these nominations will strengthen BNP’s parliamentary presence while promoting greater female participation in politics.

Political analysts suggest that this move could reshape gender representation and influence future political dynamics in Bangladesh.
