The dispute reportedly began over an imam leading Friday prayers before evolving into a political confrontation. On Tuesday night, Sathia political tension intensified as both groups gathered near the same intersection.
BNP alleged that Jamaat supporters planned an armed attack, while Jamaat denied the allegation, saying their supporters were only protesting the BNP program.
Police quickly intervened and positioned themselves between the two groups, bringing the Sathia political tension under control. Additional officers remain deployed in the area.
Residents fear that Sathia political tension could escalate again if the dispute remains unresolved.
