  • Gold prices rose in global markets after U.S. inflation increased less than expected, putting pressure on the dollar. Expectations that the Federal Reserve will not raise interest rates in October also supported demand for the non-interest-bearing asset.

At 7:05 p.m. Bangladesh time on Wednesday (September 30), spot gold prices rose 0.7% to $4,209.71 per ounce. U.S. gold futures gained 1.5% to reach $4,241.90 per ounce.

Trader Tai Wong said the Federal Reserve is clearly focused on inflation. He said the latest data could further reduce the possibility of an October rate hike, potentially giving gold prices additional momentum.

Among other precious metals, silver fell 0.5% to $61.15 per ounce. Platinum rose 0.4% to $1,711.77, while palladium declined 0.1% to $1,221.36 per ounce.

In Bangladesh, the price of 22-carat gold jewelry is currently Tk 230,772 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold is Tk 220,391 per bhori, while 18-carat gold costs Tk 189,248 per bhori. Traditional-method gold is selling at Tk 154,256 per bhori.

The movement in global gold prices remains closely linked to expectations surrounding U.S. inflation, interest rates and the dollar. For more international market updates, visit the International News section.
