বাংলাSocial Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain has said Bangladesh’s future will become brighter if the country’s women are educated, skilled and economically independent.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a program in the Ghoraghat Upazila Parishad Hall in Dinajpur on Friday (August 28). Assistance checks and bicycles were distributed among disadvantaged people, meritorious students, women and children affected by abuse.
The minister said educated and economically active women can improve the financial capacity of their families. The government is therefore providing various forms of financial assistance and encouragement to create opportunities for women’s education and employment and make them women self-reliant.
Dr. Zahid Hossain said making one woman economically independent creates a pathway for an entire family to become financially stronger. He urged beneficiaries to invest government assistance in income-generating activities to strengthen their families economically.
He also stressed that equal participation of men and women is essential for the country’s development and progress. When women self-reliant opportunities expand, the benefits can reach not only individual families but also society and the state.
At the event, bicycles were handed over to 60 students. Assistance checks were also distributed among 11 people suffering from cancer and kidney disease, 96 students, 106 disadvantaged people and 64 indigenous people, as well as various religious institutions.
Expanding education, skills development and employment opportunities can play an important role in making women self-reliant and strengthening families and communities.
