বাংলাSpeaker of the Bangladesh Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram has been given the responsibility of chairing two important standing committees of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad. Speaker Hafiz Uddin has been nominated as chairman of the Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and the Petitions Committee.
On Monday (September 7), four important standing committees of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad were formed in accordance with Article 76 of the Constitution and the relevant provisions of the Rules of Procedure. On behalf of the Leader of the House and with the Prime Minister’s approval, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni placed the proposals for forming the committees. The Speaker later formed the Petitions Committee.
A 12-member Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure was formed under Rule 264 of the Rules of Procedure. Bhola-3 lawmaker and Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram was appointed chairman of the committee.
The committee members are Barrister Kaisar Kamal, Salahuddin Ahmed, Nurul Islam Moni, Md. Asaduzzaman, A M Mahbub Uddin, Muhammad Naushad Zamir, Sakila Farzana, Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Shahjahan Chowdhury, Mohammad Najibur Rahman and Akhtar Hossain.
A 10-member Petitions Committee was also formed under Rules 231 and 232 to review citizens’ petitions and perform related responsibilities. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram has also been appointed chairman of this committee.
On the same day, the Standing Committee on Government Assurances and the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works were also formed. As a result, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram will lead two key parliamentary committees.
