Twelve students of Lohlamari Government Primary School in Shibganj, Chapainawabganj, fell ill after eating food provided under the school feeding programme.
The students developed stomach pain and vomiting after eating the tiffin meal at noon on Wednesday (September 30). Teachers quickly took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
12 Students Fall Sick After School Feeding Meal
Chapainawabganj District Primary Education Officer Md Saiful Islam confirmed the incident on Thursday morning. He said all the children have recovered fully after receiving the necessary medical treatment and have returned to their respective homes.
The district administration has taken immediate steps to investigate the incident. A six-member committee has been formed to determine the cause of the students’ illness and examine the quality of the school feeding food.

According to an order signed by District Commissioner Abu Saleh Md Musa Jangi, an Additional District Commissioner in charge of Education and ICT has been appointed convener of the committee.
The committee has been instructed to submit its report within three working days. It will examine the quality of the supplied school feeding food, determine the actual cause of the students’ illness and identify any person or organisation responsible for the incident.
The findings of the investigation are expected to clarify what caused the students to become sick. Meanwhile, all 12 students have returned home after receiving medical care.
