  • Director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s upcoming film ‘Ghamasaan’ has already generated interest among audiences. The film stars Pratik Gandhi and Arshad Warsi in key roles. However, Shah Rukh Khan was initially approached for the role eventually played by Pratik Gandhi, but the Bollywood star decided not to accept the offer.

Dhulia recently revealed the story while promoting the film. He said Shah Rukh was his first choice for the character after he completed the screenplay. The director personally approached the actor, with whom he has shared a long professional association.

Dhulia said his connection with Shah Rukh dates back to ‘Dil Se’. He later played Shah Rukh’s father in ‘Zero’. According to the director, Shah Rukh listened carefully to the screenplay before politely explaining why he would not take the role.

According to Dhulia, Shah Rukh told him that he generally does not work in this kind of realistic film. This was the reason behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Ghamasaan offer being turned down.

Dhulia said he has no regrets about Shah Rukh’s decision and respects the actor’s preferences and choice of roles. The character originally considered for Shah Rukh was eventually played by Pratik Gandhi, while Arshad Warsi took another important role in the film.

Warsi also shared his thoughts on Shah Rukh’s decision. He said audiences are accustomed to seeing Shah Rukh in larger-than-life and action-oriented roles. Warsi added that he would personally like to see Shah Rukh in roles similar to those played by Tom Cruise.

Tigmanshu Dhulia has also recently been in the spotlight for his comments about ‘Dhurandhar’. In an interview with The Wire, he criticized the film’s story, arguing that simply depicting a person going to Pakistan and causing havoc does not constitute a complete story.

The director also blamed an increasingly capitalist mindset for the decline of strong storytelling in cinema. He argued that a certain uniformity can now be seen not only in films but also in people’s clothing, appearances and even the character of cities.

‘Ghamasaan’ is described as a cat-and-mouse story set in the Hindi heartland. The film explores a conflict involving law enforcement and two sides connected to the criminal world, along with themes of male friendship, rivalry and complicated relationships. The story also touches on lesser-known aspects of the region’s history.

Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Shah Rukh Khan’s Ghamasaan offer story has added another layer of interest ahead of the film’s release. ‘Ghamasaan’, starring Pratik Gandhi and Arshad Warsi, is scheduled to premiere on ZEE5 on September 11.
