বাংলাThe father and brother of Siddhartha Das, who was arrested in connection with the murder of a retired teacher and his family in Machuapara, Rangpur, have been taken into DB custody for questioning. The Rangpur teacher family murder investigation is continuing.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty said Siddhartha’s father Binoy Das and brother Partha Das were brought in for questioning on Saturday afternoon. He said they would be released after the questioning.
On August 22, police recovered the bodies of retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, 60, his wife Pritilata, 50, their postgraduate student daughter Agami, 25, and their fifth-grade student son Priyam, 12, from their home. In the Rangpur teacher family murder case, the victim’s elder brother Gopinath Chakraborty filed a murder case against unidentified suspects at Kotwali Police Station.
Earlier that day, police arrested two young men, Mugdha Das, 23, and Siddhartha Das, 19, from the same area. Police said the two gave confessional statements before a court under Section 164 that night.
Police are continuing to verify information as part of the Rangpur teacher family murder investigation. Authorities will decide on any further legal action against Siddhartha’s father and brother after questioning.
