  • The Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance has officially announced its candidates for the reserved women seats in the 13th National Parliament of Bangladesh.

According to the released list, Jamaat has nominated eight candidates for the reserved women seats, while the National Citizen Party (NCP) secured two nominations. Other alliance partners have also been allocated seats.

In a notable move, one reserved women seats position has been dedicated to the family of a July martyr. Rokeya Begum, mother of child martyr Jabir Ibrahim, has been nominated, adding a humanitarian dimension to the decision.

The Jamaat nominees include Noorunnisa Siddika, Marzia Begum, Sabikun Nahar Munni, Mardia Momtaz, and others from different regions including Sylhet, Bogura, and Khulna.

From the NCP, Monira Sharmin and Mahmud Alam Mitu received nominations, while other allied parties also contributed candidates to the reserved women seats.

Analysts suggest that this distribution of reserved women seats could influence coalition dynamics and enhance women’s political participation in Bangladesh.
