বাংলাThe death toll from a building collapse in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area has risen to seven. The Delhi High Court has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident.
The court on Monday, September 7, admitted a public interest litigation seeking an urgent high-level probe into the Delhi building collapse.
The building, reportedly used as a paying guest accommodation for students, collapsed on Sunday, September 6, near the South Campus of Delhi University. Rescue operations began soon after the incident.
Members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire services and Delhi Police are involved in the rescue operation. Heavy machinery is being used to clear the debris and search for anyone who may still be trapped.
The Delhi building collapse has also raised fresh concerns over the safety of paying guest accommodations in densely populated parts of the capital.
Questions have been raised over whether construction rules were followed, including approval of building plans, construction of additional floors and compliance with fire safety regulations.
The high-level probe is expected to examine the circumstances behind the Delhi building collapse and determine whether any negligence or regulatory violations contributed to the incident.
