District Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested four leaders of the banned activities of the Volunteer League, including Bogura district president Sajedur Rahman Sahin. They were arrested from areas under Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar Sadar police stations on Monday night, September 28.
The arrested individuals are Sajedur Rahman Sahin, 52, president of the Bogura district Volunteer League and former chairman of Kharna Union; Syed Abu Zafar Siddiq Ripon, 60, senior vice-president of the district Volunteer League; Sabbir Hossain Nirjon alias Bhadu, 29, organizing secretary of the city Volunteer League; and Ferdous Hossain, 26, identified as a Volunteer League activist.
District DB Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar said the four had been in hiding for a long time. Acting on confidential information, police traced their locations and conducted operations in Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar. They were subsequently arrested at around 10pm on Monday.
The DB OC said the cases filed against the arrested individuals are being reviewed before further legal action is taken.
According to police, Sajedur Rahman Sahin faces more than 15 cases. Sabbir Hossain Nirjon faces more than 10 cases, while Ferdous Hossain faces more than two cases. The arrests were also reported by multiple news outlets. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
