Police in Ishwarganj, Mymensingh, have arrested a man named Nurul Haque, 45, following an allegation of sexual abuse involving his 17-year-old daughter. The Ishwarganj father arrest was confirmed by police on Friday, August 28.
Nurul Haque was arrested from the Hospital Road area of the municipal town late Thursday night based on a written complaint filed by the teenager’s mother. The Ishwarganj father arrest followed the filing of a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
According to the complaint and police sources, the alleged incident occurred on the night of August 19 while the teenager was sleeping at home. She reportedly informed her mother about the matter three days later.
The complaint also alleged that Nurul Haque threatened and intimidated his wife and daughter after the matter became known. Police launched an operation after the complaint and carried out the Ishwarganj father arrest.
Ishwarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Robiul Azam said the accused was produced before a court on Friday in connection with both cases. He also had an arrest warrant in a robbery case filed with Badda Police Station in Dhaka. The Ishwarganj father arrest is now part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
