বাংলাA Youth Dal worker was shot dead after several unidentified assailants entered a brickfield in Rupsha upazila of Khulna. The victim was identified as Fakhrul Sheikh, 35.
The incident took place around 1am on Wednesday at Messrs Rupsha Bricks in Kismat Khulna village of Naihat Union. Police confirmed the Youth Dal worker murder and said an investigation is underway.
According to relatives, the brickfield belongs to Fakhrul’s family. He occasionally stayed there at night for security because of previous theft incidents. He was at the brickfield when the attack occurred.
Locals said several assailants entered the brickfield and shot Fakhrul before fleeing. He was rescued in critical condition and taken to Rupsha Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. The Youth Dal worker murder has caused concern among local residents.
Police have yet to determine the motive or identify the attackers. Officers are investigating whether a previous dispute, political conflict or another issue was behind the Youth Dal worker murder.
Rupsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzaq Mir said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved. The investigation into the Youth Dal worker murder is continuing.
