বাংলাProtesting students left the Shahbagh intersection on Wednesday evening after issuing an Ultimatum demanding the resignation of Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon.
The students blocked the busy intersection for around one and a half hours before suspending the day’s programme. They said they did not want to prolong public suffering caused by the road blockade but insisted that their demand remained unchanged.
The protesters warned that if the minister does not resign by 10:00 pm, they will begin a ‘Long March to the Secretariat’ from Science Laboratory intersection at 10:00 am on Thursday. The Ultimatum came after demonstrations over alleged errors in HSC examination question papers and examination management.
Earlier, the students gathered in front of the Education Building but were stopped by police barricades. They continued chanting slogans demanding the minister’s resignation and education reforms. The Ultimatum was later reiterated at Shahbagh.
The demonstrators said they would continue their movement until their demands are met, adding that the Ultimatum marks the next phase of their peaceful protest.
