Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is launching a special bus service for women in Dhaka and two other cities to ensure safer and more comfortable public transportation.
The service will be officially inaugurated at 10am on Tuesday at the BRTC Dhaka Truck Depot in Tejgaon. Buses will begin operating Tuesday afternoon depending on passenger demand, while regular women’s bus service operations will start Wednesday.
According to BRTC sources, the women’s bus service will operate on several routes across Dhaka, connecting areas including Motijheel, Jatrabari, Mohammadpur, Kallyanpur, Mirpur and Joar Sahara.
Services will also operate between Gazipur and the airport. In Chattogram, buses will cover routes including Kalurghat, Bahaddarhat, GEC and Lalkhan Bazar, while two buses will operate on the Sherpur-Matidhali route in Bogura.
The new women’s bus service is intended to provide safer and more comfortable travel for female passengers. Authorities expect the initiative to improve transportation facilities for women in the three cities.
