বাংলাUS President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is set to unveil a six-month, $2.45 billion recovery plan for Gaza, according to a report by Axios cited by Reuters. The proposal is expected to be presented at a meeting of board members on Wednesday. International News
The proposed plan contains 66 projects covering temporary housing, rubble removal, hospital repairs, economic recovery and the deployment of a multinational security force.
The plan also proposes repairing Gaza’s border crossings, electricity and water infrastructure, deploying 25,000 portable solar-power kits and permanently closing tunnels beneath areas considered important for reconstruction.
According to Axios, physical damage in Gaza is estimated at $35.2 billion, while full recovery and reconstruction could require about $71.4 billion over the next decade.
The largest portion of the Gaza reconstruction proposal is allocated to infrastructure, with roughly $1 billion earmarked for the sector. This includes around $400 million for temporary shelters, $275 million for rubble and unexploded-ordnance removal and $50 million for hospital rehabilitation.
Security-related projects account for about $885 million. The proposal includes funding for a permanent facility in Rafah for the International Stabilization Force and for recruiting, training and deploying a multinational security contingent.
However, the Board of Peace and the Palestinian technocratic government have not yet secured the full $2.45 billion required for the plan. Officials hope donor countries will provide funding once political obstacles are resolved.
The White House and US State Department did not immediately comment on the proposal. Reuters also reported that it could not independently verify the Axios report at the time.
