Wife married to lover in a surprising incident in Uttar Pradesh, India, after her husband decided to arrange her marriage with the man she wanted to live with. The unusual wedding ceremony was held at a local Shiva temple, with their five children and several villagers in attendance.
According to a report by NDTV, the incident took place in Deori village of Sant Kabir Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. Local family members and the village head said 45-year-old Buddhiram Nishad and 37-year-old Phulmati had been married for around 21 years. They have five children together, one of whom is 18 years old.
Love Affair Led to Marital Dispute
A few months ago, Phulmati reportedly developed a relationship with 26-year-old Awadhesh. After the relationship came to light, tensions began to grow between Phulmati and her husband.
About two months ago, Phulmati left her home with Awadhesh. However, she later returned home following requests from family members. Despite her return, the conflict between the couple continued and their marital life remained troubled.
Considering the situation, Buddhiram eventually decided to arrange his wife’s marriage with the man she loved. He reportedly felt that continuing the strained relationship was no longer possible.
Wedding Held at Shiva Temple
The marriage ceremony took place on Tuesday, August 4, at a Shiva temple in Ashrafpur village. Local residents also attended the ceremony. Buddhiram himself was present at the wedding and also took part in the traditional farewell ceremony as his wife left with her new husband.
The wife married to lover incident has attracted attention because Buddhiram himself arranged the marriage after more than two decades of married life. Their five children were also present during the ceremony.
Husband Says He Did Not Want More Marital Conflict
Speaking to reporters, Buddhiram said he had married Phulmati around 21 years ago. However, she no longer wanted to live with him.
He said he did not want to continue living amid daily marital disputes. Since his wife wanted to live with Awadhesh, he decided to let her marry the man of her choice.
Police Receive No Complaint
Police said they have not received any complaint regarding the incident so far. Therefore, there has been no report of a formal police case or investigation into the marriage.
The unusual incident has sparked discussion in the local community, particularly because the husband himself arranged the marriage and remained present during the ceremony. The presence of the couple’s five children also drew attention to the event.
