The decision was made at a meeting between the Ministry of Commerce and edible oil traders on Wednesday. Officials reviewed international edible oil prices, import costs and the existing market situation.
Under the revised rate, the soybean oil price has increased from Tk 199 to Tk 204 per litre, meaning consumers will have to pay an additional Tk 5 for each litre.
The decision to adjust the soybean oil price came after discussions on rising costs and conditions in the international edible oil market.
However, no changes have been made to palm oil prices. The latest decision applies specifically to bottled soybean oil, with the soybean oil price now fixed at Tk 204 per litre.
The increase may add further pressure to household expenses as consumers adjust to the new soybean oil price in the domestic market.
