A 55-year-old rickshaw driver, Mokhlesur Rahman, was allegedly murdered in Gangachara, Rangpur, and his battery-powered rickshaw was taken away. The Rangpur rickshaw driver murder was reported after police recovered his body from beneath a banyan tree in the Shantipara-Kauyafanda area.
Mokhlesur was the son of late Hamidur Rahman of Nabonidas Para in Gangachara. He earned his livelihood by driving a battery-powered rickshaw. Local residents alerted police after discovering the body. The Rangpur rickshaw driver murder has caused concern in the area.
According to police and local sources, residents spotted the body at around 11:45pm on Friday. Gangachara police later reached the scene and recovered the body.
Police sent the body to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The exact cause and manner of death will be determined after the autopsy report. The Rangpur rickshaw driver murder investigation is ongoing.
Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sabur said Mokhlesur had left home with his rickshaw on Friday afternoon. Police suspect he was killed later that night and that the attackers took his rickshaw. Officers are working to identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the Rangpur rickshaw driver murder.
