বাংলাThe University Grants Commission (UGC) has published the combined list of Prime Minister Gold Medal recipients for 2019, 2020 and 2021 after more than six years. A total of 469 students from public and private universities have been included in the list. Dhaka University has the highest number with 30 students, followed by Rajshahi University with 28.
According to a UGC notice issued on October 5, the list includes 178 students from 2019, 141 from 2020 and 150 from 2021. The final list was prepared after applications submitted by universities were reviewed and subsequently rechecked by the respective institutions.
Under the relevant policy, each selected student will receive a medal made with 4.5 grams of 22-carat gold and 10 grams of silver, along with a certificate of recognition.
The Prime Minister Gold Medal was introduced in 2005 to encourage university students to focus on their studies and achieve strong academic results. The award was initially introduced for public universities, while permanent-certificate private universities were brought under the policy after amendments in 2018.
The latest list therefore includes students from both public and eligible private universities. The UGC has asked candidates or concerned universities with any objection or statement regarding the list to submit supporting evidence to the Director of the Research Grants and Awards Department by October 31.
The UGC said no complaints would be accepted after the deadline and the published list would be considered final. Separate lists for 2019, 2020 and 2021 have been made available on the commission’s website.
The Prime Minister Gold Medal recipients were selected following verification of nominations submitted by universities. The combined list covers 469 students across the three academic years.
