বাংলাNigerian President Bola Tinubu has announced a second salary increase for members of the armed forces within just one month. Under the new decision, the Nigerian Army salary increase will raise pay by up to 80 percent, with the revised structure taking effect from September.
Last July, the monthly salary of the lowest-ranking soldiers was increased from 36 dollars to 73 dollars. Under the latest announcement, they will receive 132 dollars per month from September. The government said the Nigerian Army salary increase is intended to recognize the sacrifices of troops battling insecurity.
President Tinubu praised the courage and dedication of military personnel fighting terrorism, kidnapping and armed banditry. He said the Nigerian Army salary increase reflects the government’s deep appreciation for the service of the country’s armed forces.
Earlier, the government approved the recruitment of 28,000 additional soldiers and ordered the formation of four new army divisions. Despite these measures, Nigeria continues to face security threats from Boko Haram, ISWAP, armed bandits and separatist violence.
The Nigerian Army salary increase is being viewed as a significant step toward improving troop morale and strengthening national security efforts.
