বাংলাPolice have arrested six active members of a motorcycle theft gang in a special operation in Jorarganj of Mirsarai, Chattogram. Three stolen motorcycles and six mobile phones were recovered from them.
Chattogram District Police Superintendent Mohammad Masud Alam disclosed the information at a press conference at the police superintendent’s office on Monday (September 14).
The arrested individuals are Md. Jamsed Hossain alias Shuvo (23), Md. Shariful Islam alias Johnny (26), Saiful Islam alias Chand Mia (20), Asif Mahmud alias Abhi (24), Ismail Hossain (18) and Md. Mashrafi (20). Police said Mashrafi already has three previous theft cases against him.
According to SP Masud Alam, a Jorarganj police team conducted the operation on Sunday (September 13) as part of an ongoing drive to recover stolen motorcycles. Acting on a tip-off, police first arrested the six suspects from a house in the Banglabazar area of Dhuma Union. One stolen motorcycle and six mobile phones were recovered from the location.
Based on information obtained during the initial questioning of the arrested suspects, police later raided a motorcycle garage named ‘Korerhat Bike Lab’ in Chhattaruya area of Korerhat Union. Two more stolen motorcycles, including a Hero and a Platina, were recovered from the garage.
The police superintendent said the recovered evidence has been seized and legal proceedings are being taken against the arrested suspects. The operation will continue to arrest other members of the gang and recover more stolen vehicles.
