Angel One founder Dinesh Thakkar has purchased a luxury residential tower in Mumbai for ₹711 crore. The ₹711 crore home spans 63,000 square feet and features an eight-storey sea-facing structure.
The purchase has been described as India’s most expensive acquisition of a single residential unit. Embassy Developments and Dinesh Thakkar announced the deal on Tuesday. News of the ₹711 crore home purchase also sent Embassy’s shares up by as much as 8.3% initially.
Thakkar’s brokerage business was listed on India’s stock market in 2020. The business benefited significantly from the surge in online trading during the pandemic lockdown period.
The deal reflects the growing luxury housing market in India, particularly in Mumbai, where wealthy families and business leaders are increasingly purchasing high-value residences. The ₹711 crore home deal follows other major luxury property purchases in the city.
According to property data provider Zapkey, at least 37 residential transactions worth more than ₹100 crore each have taken place since January 2025, with a combined value of ₹5,600 crore. The ₹711 crore home purchase further highlights the scale of India’s luxury real estate market.
