India’s box office is currently witnessing the absolute dominance of ‘Dhurandhar 2’. With Ranveer Singh’s explosive action and Aditya Dhar’s tight direction, this spy-thriller has made history by crossing the 1,000 crore mark worldwide in just 11 days. However, amidst this box office success, an unexpected situation has arisen. Residents of Lyari in Pakistan have demanded a significant portion of the film’s profits.
Viral Demand from Lyari Residents
According to Indian media sources, a viral video on social media shows local residents of Lyari claiming that since the film’s backdrop centers on their city and billions of rupees have been earned using their area’s name, at least 50% of the profits—amounting to 500 crore rupees—should be given to them. One resident in the video stated, “If 1,000 crores is earned, 500 crores should go to the people of Lyari. This would fix our roads, where children get sores on their feet while walking.”
The Numbers Behind the Blockbuster
The film’s box office success is undeniable. According to Sacnilk, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has collected 778.77 crore rupees in India as of the second Saturday, with a global total of 1,226 crore rupees. Residents argue that the name and situation of Lyari are the pillars of this success. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the blockbuster stars Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, among others.
