The deceased, Rashed, served as the General Secretary of Ward No. 1 Awami League in the metropolitan area. According to family members, police officers arrived at his residence to arrest him in connection with ongoing cases.

Relatives claimed that while trying to climb down from the rooftop to avoid arrest, he lost his balance and fell into a narrow drain located between the building wall and the boundary wall. He suffered severe injuries, particularly to his chest.

Local residents and family members rushed him to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal. However, doctors at the emergency department declared him dead upon arrival.
