A woman reported missing in a kidnapping and murder case in Khulna has been found alive by the Police Bureau of Investigation. The PBI Khulna district unit confirmed the development on Friday, August 28.
Ayesha Khatun, 36, is the daughter of Shafiqul Islam of Naksha village in Koyra and the wife of Islam Sardar from Gunari village in Dacope. Her mother had filed a case alleging that Ayesha was kidnapped and killed. The PBI Khulna investigation later uncovered a different account.
Investigating officer SI S M Rajib Raihan said Ayesha’s mother filed a criminal case at the Koyra court on August 3. The complaint alleged that Ayesha was kidnapped on July 11 by her husband and other accused individuals.
According to the investigation and Ayesha’s statement, she had been married to Islam Sardar for around 12 years. Due to ongoing marital disputes, she decided not to continue living with her husband. About one and a half months ago, she left for Dhaka without informing her family and remained there voluntarily. The PBI Khulna team later traced and rescued her alive.
Special Superintendent of Police Reshma Sharmin said the successful recovery of the alleged victim in a kidnapping and murder case would strengthen public confidence in the PBI Khulna unit. Legal action will be taken in the matter.
